Project Title: Improved Access to PMTCT public and privet sector Services in India (IAPSI)-AHANA

Nature of Project:

Elimination of Parent to Child Transmission of HIV in India

Geographical location of AHANA project:Covering 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh

Project Brief: The project is to increase the uptake of PPTCT services in the project area. The specific goal is to promote periphery level HIV screening among pregnant women as part of ANC for early identification of positive pregnant women and linking them with PPTCT services.

 

Project Activity:-

·         Facilitate the involvement of all health care providers to increase the reach of PPTCT services

·         Promote HIV testing and reporting in private sector through Private Medical Associations (PMAs) Implement customized and cliental friendly outreach activities in the field

·         Synergies civil society’s HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support services through partnerships

·         Support and complement PPTCT testing and treatment services to increase access, especially in difficult and hard-to-reach areas

·         Strengthen the state and district level women friendly PPTCT services both ANC and PNC

 

Major Outcomes of the project:-

·         Support to update the PALS line-list as well as SIMS data rectification at the district level

·         EMTCT committee formation at district level to close monitoring of EMTCT program

·         Started the HIV/Syphilis screening at VHND level in all over UPNP district

·         Early linkages of PPW to ART center and 100% follow up for ART adherence

·         Strengthened the FICTC for providing the screening and its reporting in SIMS software and also strengthened the system as well as PPWs for institutional delivery

·         Capacity building of PPWs and spouse through the group meetings and during the ANM meetings

·         Sensitize to Public and Private Health care providers who are providing ANC (one to one basis and group level) and PPTCT services

·         Provided the ART drug to the PPWs during the COVID 19 pandemic situation

·         Total 1494 PPW received TB test, 690 infant received HIV confirmatory test at 18 months, 479 older children received HIV test, and syphilis test of 1468 PPW.

·         In adding, a total 224 first EID within 2 to 6 months and 41 first EID within 6 to 18 months of exposed infants.

Project Brief:

Care and Support Centre is a national initiative to provide expanded and holistic care and support services for PLHIV. It symbolizes a ray of hope in the lives of PLHIV. CSC expands access to essential services, supports treatment adherence, reduces stigma and discrimination, and improves the quality of life of PLHIV across India.

 

Project Activity:

·         Early linkages of PLHIV to care, support and treatment services: The CSC will support PLHIV in early linkage to care, support and treatment services.

·         Improved treatment adherence and education for PLHIV: Adherence education and support can help the PLHIV sustain and manage their treatment regimes.

·         Expanded positive prevention activities: Early testing and diagnosis will be encouraged through appropriate counseling and peer support. All who are tested will be supported to engage their sexual partners, family members and children toward testing.

·         Improved social protection and wellbeing of PLHIV: The CSC will facilitate linkage to the existing social welfare and protection schemes under different line departments, corporate sector, public sector undertakings, and faith based organizations, and civil society organizations.

·         Strengthened community systems and reduced stigma and discrimination: To ensure a robust system that supports the program goal and ensures stigma and discrimination free access to quality services.

 

Major Outcomes of the project:

·         PLHIV aware about social entitlement and social protection scheme.

·         PLHIV sustain and manage their treatment regime for ART drug adherence through the adherence treatment.

·         Strengthened community systems and reduced stigma and discrimination. And district response team addressing the issue in districts level.

·         Successful linkages (defined as clients getting the benefits) with service delivery points for medical and non-medical needs of PLHIV. Also available free base line test available at all Govt. hospital.

·         Capacity building of PLHIV through conducting Support Group Meetings (SGM) on different themes eg. Positive Prevention and Positive Living, Adherence, Nutrition, HIV-TB co-infection etc.

·         Through the outreach LFU and MIS clients are linked back to ARTCs, early linkage to OI services and every registered PLHIV is contacted periodically (once in a quarter).

·         CSC act as referral hub from where the health and non-health needs of PLHIV will be addressed through referral to appropriate facility.

·         Community Based Screening (CBS) at field level

·         Generate Resource mobilization for community through CSC staff and linking with them from livelihood option

Project Brief:

Destination Migrant Targeted Intervention Program is a Community based Program funded by UPSACS implemented by NACO. Destination Migrant Targeted Intervention Program focuses on prevention of HIV infection, early detection and linkages of identified positive bridge-populations to ART.

 

Project Activity:

·         Providing Social marketing condoms.

·         Referral services among migrant and general population

·         Organize health camp among them

·         Organized awareness program related HIV/AIDS, STI/RTI, TB, Condom Promotion etc.

·         Provide them Drop-In-Center services.

·         Some other programs beneficial for them with the help of other organization.

·         Distributed IEC Materials among them.
